CENTERPLATE is the exclusive hospitality, food and beverage provider for the Jacob K. Javits Convention Center. Centerplate has part time positions available for the following positions, hourly rates ranging from $13-$17 depending on position and experience:
• Cashiers
• Concessions Supervisors
• Catering Servers, Expeditors, Supervisors
• Line Servers
• Runners
• Cooks -- must have food handler's license
• Utility Supervisors and work crew (stewards)
• Starbucks -- Cashiers / Baristas / Runners
• Warehouse Supervisor
If you have a proven and stable work history, can meet the minimum company requirements relative to the application process, and can demonstrate experience in one of the above-mentioned hospitality positions, they encourage you to apply!
General requirements include:
• Prior, relevant hospitality experience, ideally 2 or more years.
• Ability to work under pressure and independently in a high-stress, fast-paced environment.
• Age 18 or older (for positions that handle/sell alcohol) and must have TIPS or TEAM certification.
• Demonstrated ability to understand, follow, and effectively implement written and verbal instructions
• Must be able to speak, read, write and understand the primary language(s) used by the guests who typically visit the work location
• Scheduling flexibility to meet operational needs. Hours may be extended or irregular to include nights, weekends and holidays.
• Strong customer service skills
• Some positions require the employee to be able to lift 50 lbs.
