Job Description:
The Direct Support Professional (DSP) is responsible for implementing person-centered services for each service recipient. This includes implementation of services and valued outcomes. In addition, Direct Support Professional is directly responsible for the service recipient overall physical and emotional well-being.
Duties & Responsibilities:
Implement the service recipient's plans, consistent with specific services and valued outcomes. Participate in the planning and implementation of activities, both at the program and in the community, that address the valued outcomes.
Promote choice and self-determination to support individuals to direct the course of his/her own lives. Ensure that services and goals reflect what the service recipient want for themselves.
Respect and affirm the human rights, civil rights, and responsibilities of the people supported.
Based on the services and valued outcomes, support and teach each service recipient by active engagement in skills development, socialization and task participation. Ensure that supports are provided with consideration for each person's individualized needs and routines.
Promote and support the inclusion of each service recipient in his/her community per his/her unique needs, interests, and desires. Model and encourage interaction between the service recipient and community members. Foster the service recipient's personal growth by assisting in forming and maintaining friendships with neighbors, co-workers, and peers.

Qualifications:
One or more years of experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities preferred
Must have a high school diploma or GED!!!
• Successful clearance of local and/or state background checks
• Must be 18 years of age
• NYS Driver's license preferred
